166 laid gently down

I watched as an late autumn,
late afternoon breeze
seduced a leaf from her branch.
Gently, ever so gently,
it wove her a path through
falls golden light,
laid her softly, ever so softly
among all the leaves fallen before.

The instant she landed,
she blended with the seasons dying quilt.
I could not discern her colors, lines, designs.
She was absorbed,
gone on to another purpose.

So shall it be, I hope .
for me.
To be laid down softly,
changed so gently,
to become again
something,
in mystery.
