645 The Constitution 12-17-16 (go to 580 for key word search)

Showing a little wear lately
but still the strong, bolted on
hinge of the see-saw.

Though creaking sometimes,
like an aging History Prof,
who knows more than his whole department,
but just takes a little longer to get it straightened out,

able, still,
to hold together the playgrounds most finicky apparatus:

the teeter-totter.

Where us kids learned the art of
balancing
our weight
against
their wishes,
our wants
against
their worries,
and the fun and fairness of a mutually arranged compromise for
levitation and dangling
feet.
