706 Every Once In A Great While – a hint. 9-8-17 (Check the word search box)

You have a Spirit part
who knows
everything about you and

ABOUT EVERYTHING.

It knows the name and number of the
best swimmer in your Daddy’s
sperm-cell loaded ejaculate
who planted his flag
on your Mommas’s egg.
It knows your first thought
in utero.
It knows the sour scent
in the air around your final exhalation.
It knows who you will be
in a billion years
and what you were
millions of years ago.

It Knows.

And it knows your other part.

Your Flesh part which knows nothing,
no thing
beyond this seconds tick on your clock.
But it knows all its past:
its first day on the school bus;
its first kiss;
first pay check;
first glitch in its memory;
what spice was in the marinara sauce
at supper on September 16, 1967.

And every once in a great while,
maybe, like, twice,
three times if you’re real good,
your Spirit part gets
sentimental,
gets,
involved,
with your Flesh part,

(even though, theologically, it’s not supposed to – free will and all that…)

and you’re leaving somewhere
to go somewhere,
maybe –
home,
and you know the Love
waiting on the other side of the door,
for you
and you want to open that door
and touch that Love
and your Flesh part thinks
you’re going to.
It thinks it’s already feeling
your key in your hand,
opening the door,
seeing that Love,
there.

But,
your Spirit part
knows –
you’re not gonna open that door.
It knows
because
you have but two ways home:
A
and
B.

And you’re starting your car
and you’ve decided,
probably without thinking,
to take the
B
way home,
so,

you’re gonna die.

And your Spirit part
knows this.
Sees
the deer
stuck in your cars
shattered front window,
its broken right foreleg
flailing near your neck,
sees it when that
cute little Rudolph hoof
at the end of that leg
crashes through your ribs,
cleaving your heart.

Your Spirit part knows this.

But remember:

this is

ONE OF THOSE VERY FEW TIMES.

So, It whispers,
just a faint,
soft
breath of air,

“Take A.”

and you do
and your key
slides into the lock
and your door opens
and you see
there,
the Love.

And,

yes,

it’s a miracle,

but you’ll never know it happened

(until much, much later)

But don’t depend on it.

And watch out for deer.
