#778 Given our present direction … 6-25-18

…not even our
overwhelllming,
overwheeeening
preeeeeeening
human hubris
would call for
a cosmic announcement
of our species demise.

The eradication of our race,
in an,
almost,
unintended,
suicide,
won’t create even
a remote

echo

through the
hallowed,
hollowed
halls
of the universe,
other than from,

maybe,

Gods brief sigh,
“O’well. Back to the drawing board,”

Not even the much touted
illusion
of our

exceptionalism,

based on some
“god on a cross,
dying to save our uniquely
sinning gang”,
precludes our wild clan
from going

down

in some
climatic,
climactic
apocalypse,
the natural results
of our unnatural acts.

We’ve become an invasive species,
destroying the environment
which has sustained us,
thus,
leading us
to our own

extinction,

a long-rooted water-chestnut, choking the
oxygen
from the
lake
which here-to-fore
had given it

life.

Nope.

When we’re gone,
we’re gone.

The Others will not even
blink.
Or care to think
about that
strange,
momentary

hick-up-blip

from the other side
of the stars.
